Frequently Asked Questions

What is NCASE?

NCASE is a security product that empowers you to protect your data.

NCASE is do-it-yourself, which means your data is not copied to "the cloud", or revealed to anyone. The protected data is yours, and only you have the original copy.

You choose keepers who you trust, not with your data, but with shares for safekeeping.

The original data may be restored, only when a number of keepers reveal their shares during the restore process.

Is this secure?

NCASE may look and feel like a website, but protected data is never sent to NCASE servers. Your protected data is not uploaded, even when you press "choose files" or click buttons.

NCASE software runs within your browser to split data into shares, and recover data from shares. Each share is a file sent to one keeper. NCASE provides a transport feature that sends shares securely browser-to-browser. But, you can choose the method you prefer to send shares, for example end-to-end encrypted messaging.

Your original data, and your split shares, are not stored on NCASE servers, because they are never sent to NCASE servers.

To make this possible, NCASE requires features that only modern web browsers support, such as web assembly and real-time communication.
